I am sure you have enjoyed the March issue to this point, including all the information about the success of the National Western Stock Show, the National Sale and the other successful sales and events that happened in January. The year has gotten off to a super start for the Limousin breed, and 2013 looks very promising.
With that in mind, setting goals and making breeding decisions is necessary now. The decisions you make now will play a huge role in your marketing ability far into the future. Set your goals wisely, breed aggressively and reap abundantly. It all culminates with your product meeting your customers’ needs.
Maybe you have spotted a few new sires to try this breeding season. Or, perhaps you have picked up on a new marketing idea or two to implement. By networking with others you can cultivate new customers. Each of these will play a role in your future success, which will be even more magnified if the market continues to move positively as projected.
We are heavy into the spring sale season. Bull and female buyers should be inquiring about your genetics, and in many locations I know they already have. Listen closely to their requests, and use the opportunity to educate them on any current and future offerings of yours they may not already know about. After all, it is our job to educate our customers about the benefits of Limousin genetics and our programs in an effort to secure their business.
Spring is also a great time to ramp up your customer service efforts, whether by a newsletter, phone call or herd visit. Direct contact with your current and prospective customers keeps an open line of communication. That communication is your best means of solving or averting issues and even maximizing opportunities.
Each new season brings new opportunity. Focus your passion, your energy, your genetics, and your goals to meet those opportunities. Be THE source of information that helps your customers succeed. As always, use your fellow breeders and industry professionals to glean information that will help you succeed.
