Happy New Year!
I hope everyone had a great Christmas, took some time to be with the family, is recharged and ready to dive into 2012.
If you’re like me, probably sometime during this holiday season you asked yourself, where in the world did 2011 go? It sure seems things continue to speed up and rarely do they slow down.
I was reading an article the other day and stumbled across a quote I couldn’t help but share with you. The quote was, “The bad news is, time flies. The good news is, you’re the pilot.â€
Take a minute to think about that. If you’re like me, you’ll find some comfort in the second half of that quote. At the end of the day, regardless of where we’ve been or where we are, we are in control of where we are headed.
To put that quote in the context of all things Limousin, there’s no question every breeder, marketer and Limousin enthusiast is responsible for piloting both their program and the breed. So regardless of the direction you’re taking your program this new year, I challenge you to keep in mind the future of the breed and remember that today’s steps are tomorrow’s imprints.
With the National Western Stock Show around the corner, it affords us the opportunity to build some momentum both within the breed and outside of the breed. That said, hopefully with strong participation, we will all leave the NWSS with a positive attitude, a clear vision of where the breed is headed and parlay that into a strong bull sale season.
I strongly encourage you to take in all of the Limousin events surrounding the National Western Stock Show. Most importantly, the NALF Annual Membership meeting January 9. That is your opportunity to do your part, make your voice heard and help pilot the breed into the future.
I look forward to visiting with you at the National Western and other events across the country.
I hope 2012 is a year of prosperity and success for you all.
