Attend the Annual Meeting
If you would like to help shape the Limousin breed make plans to attend the 2012 Annual Membership Meeting at the National Western Stock Show. As the premier event for the North American Limousin Foundation, the Annual Meeting will take place at the Renaissance Denver Hotel January 9.
Absentee Ballot Request
If you are unable to attend the 2012 Annual Meeting, you may request an official voting ballot from the NALF office prior to December 1. In order to receive a ballot you must submit a letter to the NALF office requesting an absentee ballot. Forms are available on the NALF website to place the request. Biographies of each of this year’s candidates are included on page 20 of this issue.
NALF Hires Bennett as Director of Communications
NALF has hired Brooke Bennett as the director of communications. Bennett has a bachelor’s degree in animal science and agricultural communications from Kansas State University and a master’s degree in public relations and marketing from the University of Denver. She was raised on a cattle ranch in the central valley of California where her family runs a commercial cow-calf operation. Bennett remains active on her family’s ranch alongside her parents and siblings.

If you are not receiving the NALF Partners e-newsletter, confirm that your e-mail address is correct and on file in the NALF office to get the timeliest reminders and updates. If you have an e-mail address on file but are not receiving messages from NALF, make sure email@example.com is in your address book and “white list.”

Have You Made Your Reservations?
The Renaissance Denver Hotel at 3801 Quebec Street is the headquarters for the Limousin breed during the 2012 National Western Stock Show. Rooms are available at the Renaissance for $94 per night if you mention the “North American Limousin Foundation” when reservations are made prior to December 9. Contact the Renaissance at 303/399-7500 to reserve your rooms.
Also, be sure to reserve your banquet tickets from the NALF office for the annual membership banquet and Genetics on Ice auction Monday, January 9, at 6:00 p.m.
2012 Corner Post Heifer Donated by Spring Creeks Cattle Co.
Spring Creeks Cattle Co. of Wisconsin is donating the centerpiece of the sixth annual Corner Post Genetics Package. Sprng Crks Your Chance will sell during the 2012 National Limousin Sale at the National Western Stock Show January 10. The April 6 heifer is a 50 percent Lim-Flex® daughter of CJSL Windfall 9072W. All proceeds from the package will benefit the Corner Post Fund, which facilitates additional activities and scholarships for the North American Limousin Junior Association (NALJA).
Your Chance is featured on page 17 of this issue. A NALJA board member will be contacting you soon to ensure your spot in this year’s syndicate. For information regarding contributing to the Corner Post Fund, contact Bret Begert at 806/375-2308 or Kasey Woolam in the NALF office.
The Bottom Line
The commercial Bottom Line will be a quarterly publication that will be distributed in December, March, June and September. The distribution list has grown to include more than 25,000 Limousin customers and potential customers. The publications will be a joint effort between Limousin World and NALF, and will be completely redesigned as a tabloid publication.
Medal of Excellence (MOE) exhibitors should have submitted all performance data by December 1. Preliminary standings and a list of submitting shows is available on the NALF website. If your show is not listed please contact Kasey in the NALF office as soon as possible.
The 2012 show season will kick off with the National Western Stock Show January 8-12 and will be quickly followed by the second Level I show of the season, the Fort Worth Stock Show January 28.
2012 Cattle Industry Annual Convention & Trade Show
The Cattle Industry Convention is the oldest and largest convention for the cattle business. The 2012 convention will be the 114th annual convention. The convention and trade show create a unique, fun environment for cattle industry members to come together to network, create policies for the industry and to have some fun! If you’re in the cattle business, you need to be in Nashville, Tennessee, February 1-4, 2012. The convention is being hosted at the world famous Opryland Hotel and Convention Center.
The North American Limousin Foundation will have a large booth across from the demonstration area displaying quality Limousin cattle from Englewood Farms and Wulf Limousin Farms. There are a few advertising spots available on the NALF sign that will hang over the booth, contact the NALF office for more details.
