As we get into spring and most of you are focused on marketing your bulls, it is imperative we evaluate the quality of bulls we are sending out in the industry. At the January board meeting held in conjunction with the National Western Stock Show (NWSS), NALF’s genetic consultant, Dr. Bob Weaber, made the profound statement that the U.S. beef industry is driven by seedstock producers’ selection of bulls at weaning. These bulls make up the basis for the commercial industry’s bull selection options and have an effect on the entire industry for generations.

The North American Limousin Foundation (NALF) 2012 Annual Meeting was January 10, at the Renaissance Hotel in Denver, Colorado, in conjunction with the National Western Stock Show (NWSS). Nearly 100 members and guests were in attendance.
Positive, that’s the word that comes to mind.
Since I started with Limousin World in 2005 I can honestly say we just had one of the most on-point, energetic, positive National Western Stock Shows in memory. As you’ve flipped through this issue and seen the results and the product that was on hand at the National Western Stock Show, it’s hard not to concede that the Limousin breed is rolling in the right direction.
I admit, most days I think the value of Facebook and Twitter can be held in Tiny Tim’s thimble. Call me ancient, old-fashioned or just plain dumb. I live with 10- and 14-year-old girls. I’m used to it.
